Our Weekend in MI

Most of Saturday, (about 5 hours) was spent at the Detroit Auto Show. I can't say that I loved it, but some of the concept cars were really cool. Greg really enjoyed hanging out in the Sand Buggy Jeep and I enjoyed checking out the Audi Q5.. future car??  By the time we were leaving, it was getting very crowded. I'm not sure if I would go back again...

The real reason we traveled to Michigan was to be the Godparents for our niece's baptism. Everything went smoothly and we were honored to share in Evalynn's special day.

5!

This week has flown by. It has been extremely busy with work, school and home life. I am happy to have a few days to semi-relax. We are headed to Michigan for our niece's baptism this weekend and will also be spending some time at the Detroit auto show (my first time).

While it was a crazy week, I still found some down time and fun things to do. Link up with Lauren at  FMGD to share yours.

1. Jungle Jims is an awesome international market around Cincinnati. They have a huge beer and wine selection as well as specialty candy, cheeses and other fun foods. Greg and I had fun picking out beer to try including Banana Bread and Mississippi Mud. They sell a lot of beer buy the bottle so you can sample more.

2. Have you ever ordered online at Chipotle then went to pick it up? It's amazing, we won't do it any other way! We went straight to the cashier, no waiting in line. Our food wasn't ready right when we arrived so they gave us chips and drinks for free. I'll take it :)

3. This is what our Sunday afternoon looked like. Family nap time

4. I highly recommend you try these Pizza Quesadillas. So simple and so delicious

5. Don't you love when you are getting dressed and put an outfit combination together that you instantly  love? That happened this week. Chambray + sweater + skinny cords + booties

Dining Room Dreaming

We don't have a formal dining room in our current house, but who said a girl can't dream?

I have been admiring {wasting time} on Pinterest lately, and have been inspired by many dining rooms. I am loving a bold color on the walls, such as navy with simple gold accents. Take a peek:

I love this wall color with the white wainscoting

love all of it!

This chandelier is to die for

neutral. love that light

I will be making this mirror someday. I love how it pops on a dark wall

Sunburst Mirror. I will be making this

I would have to check out these curtains in person, but I am loving the polka dots

NINNI RUND Curtains- Ikea

Add some storage

Carlyle Dining Room Buffet

and some gold accents...

gold accents for the home

I would say that would be the perfect dining room. Do you think it's too trendy? Or just the right touch of simplicity and elegance?

Good To See You Friday

Another week down.. another week of classes done.. another week closer to spring break.

Like always, I am linking up to share my top 5!

1. Global warming is an understatement. On Saturday, I was wearing leggings and a tshirt outside. I think it ended up getting to 66 degrees. So crazy! As much as I love that weather, I would like to see a little more snow.

2. My Birchbox arrival is always a highlight. Got a random assortment of items this time, but still haven't received a box I have been disappointed in.

3. I went to a boot camp this week at a local church. It was only $3 and was an amazing workout. It's funny that I think I am in shape... until the next day when I am hobbling around.

4. Could this sunset in my backyard be any prettier? That is with no filter on Instagram. Follow me, elowc86

5. Found these at the grocery store. Perfect craving for my sweet tooth

Looking forward to my 3 day weekend. No big plans, just the way I like it. What about you?

New Year, New Me

Looking forward to many things in 2013. I will be getting my Special Education license added to my degree and traveling to New Jersey to see family. I will also be more committed to the gym and staying healthy. Last year at this time, we had 4 vacations planned. I am both happy and sad to say that currently, we only have one small trip planned. Sometimes it's fun to live on the edge and plan things last minute ;) Along with vacations, I have some other things planned...

Goals for 2013:
  • Travel to Atlanta, Mackinac Island, Pictured Rocks, and a beach {somewhere on the east coast}
  • More time to craft and make things around the house
  • Enjoy Happy Hour with my hubby and friends
  • Stay organized now that the house is clean and clutter free
  • Hook up our hot tub so we can finally take advantage of it
  • Learn all the functions and settings on my new camera
  • Read more
  • Get to the gym at least 3x a week
  • Use my Crock Pot more for meal planning
  • Try a new restaurant each month

Greg and I are still loving our jobs. We are still getting to know Ohio and discovering more each day. We have enjoyed it more than we thought we would and have settled into our life here. Granted, we miss friends and family and enjoy each visit with them, but we are only a drive away :) It could be worse, right?

Looking forward to what this years brings and all the adventures along the way!

I have never been so happy to see Friday. My first week back to work and I am exhausted! Looking forward to a relaxing weekend and catching up with some friends on Sunday.

Now, for the top 5 things that got me through this long week. Link up with FMGD to share yours!

1. A sushi date. Tried a new place that had some yummy rolls

2. Loving my new Q&A  journal. I got this for Christmas and look forward to it every night.

Q&A A Day

3. Relaxing on the couch with Murphy is always a highlight.
Except he seems to think every pillow and blanket belongs to him

4. Studying is never fun, but painting my nails while reading makes me happy.
OPI 'You Don't Know Jacques' is my favorite

5. Our house is sparkling clean to start off the new year. Check out some before & after pictures of our house

I hope your new year is off to a great start!

Then & Now

I mentioned yesterday that our house has been completely remodeled, so I thought I would share some before and after pictures. It is always fun to see a direct comparison side-by-side. Three years of love, hard work and dedication got us to where we are today.

What do you think?!
